Rip-Rap & Breakwaters

Stone revetments and breakwaters that knock down wave energy before it reaches your shoreline.

Stone is one of the toughest ways to stop erosion. Dock It Marine places rip-rap revetments along eroding banks and builds breakwaters offshore to take the energy out of the waves before they reach land.

Stone placement is heavy, precise work. Our excavator works from the barge, setting stone by the bucket where it needs to go, without trucks crossing your lawn or a staging yard in your driveway.

Rip-rap also protects the toe of seawalls and the landings of piers, so it often goes in alongside other work.

“Richard and his crew have built me the very best Dock of my dreams, and it is the pride of our creek.”

Don’t see your question? Call (757) 570-3266, Monday to Friday, 7:30 to 4:30.

How is the stone delivered?

By water. The barge carries the stone to your shoreline and the excavator places it from the deck.

Is rip-rap better than a bulkhead?

For many shorelines, yes: stone absorbs wave energy instead of reflecting it. We’ll recommend what fits your site.
